I AM OTAY

MAKEUP, FOOD AND FINANCE BLOG PHILIPPINES

I am the kind of person who's afraid to try whitening products on my face. As I've told you before, I am a Ponds whitening cream user and nothing more. But sometimes I get tempted to try other creams whenever I see girls with very flawless complexion.

Bleaching creams are very popular these days. Too many sellers came up with different products with different formulation and ingredients. Most of them contains hydroquinone which a big no no for me. That's why I always check the ingredients before I put anything onto my face. Our main concern and purpose is to take care of our skin so harmful ingredients should be avoided at all times.

So while I was scrolling my fb page, I saw this Bossa Spotlight Lightening Cream and I got curious. I researched about the formulation and luckily, I found no harmful chemicals on the product so I decided to give it a try. Here's my review...
They sell this set for P750 which contains 60grams of Spotlight Lightening Cream, 150grams of Night Bleach Body Cream and 2pcs Premium White Bleaching Soap with Glutathione

Bossa Spotlight Lightening Cream
The Spotlight cream has pink color with a fruity scent. I use this only at night after cleansing and toning. After 3 days of use, I noticed that my skin started to peel lightly. I also noticed that my face became smoother and fairer. One good thing that I love about this product is the light micropeeling effect. It doesn't cause a burning sensation, just a little bit of sweating which is tolerable. And I have no redness and itchiness like the ones seen on other bleaching cream users.

Bossa Night Bleach Body Cream
I have uneven skintone on my arms from using a short-sleeved rash guard during my beach vacation last summer. Bad idea. So I use this cream only on the dark parts of my arms to make them even. This gives an instant whitening effect on my skin. I'm still hoping this will give me the long term whitening result.
Bossa Premium White Bleaching Soap with Glutathione
I stopped using my kojic soap and used this instead. I love bubbly soaps so this could pass as replacement for my trusty kojie-san soap. As per packaging, it contains glutathione with micropeeling effect. Not bad at all.

So far, I can say that this product is amazing and highly recommended for curious people like me. Over the counter whitening creams scares me but this one is worth trying given the affordable price and the premium/safe ingredients used. I've been using this for just a week and I hope this product will give me the best whitening experience. I will update you guys about the end result.

Money won’t save itself if you keep telling yourself to start saving it tomorrow. Let’s begin today!
I'm not really a religious saver, I fail most of the time. But slowly, through the help of successful people and through reading financial literacy blogs, I'm on my way. So together, let's motivate and remind each other by considering these steps:

1. Live below your means – Cut your expenses. Save first and spend what is left. That's the rule. If you live below your means, you will always be putting money into savings because that's what you do with money you don't spend.

2. Find happiness in saving as much as you do in spending– if you find yourself happy and content with buying trendy clothes or gadgets, why not be happy seeing your bank account or your investment grow? Clothes and gadgets will be out of style after few months, but your money in the bank will always be there to rescue you when emergency arises.

3. Differentiate Want and Need. Need-something you have to have. Want-something you would like to have. You need clothes but you don’t need branded ones. You need a phone, but you don't necessarily have to own a high-end one. Cut little expenses but do not deprive yourself from enjoying the good things in life. Have a sense of balance.

4. Avoid Impulse Buys - Spur of the moment decision to buy destroys your budget. These sudden purchases, such as unnecessary clothing or electronics, eat away your bank account and throw off your saving progress. The best thing to do is to avoid going to places that triggers impulse buying.

5. Set a Deadline - A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. Defining a clear deadline helps you track your progress and act accordingly if you’re ahead or behind your goal.

Always remember: It's not about how much money you make, It's how you save it!

Hello guys! Beauty blogging is now my hobby and I thought I would share with you my favorite products of the month from skincare to makeup. This will be a regular post from now on aside from reviewing beauty products. So, here are my favorites for the month of October.

1. Naturals by Watsons Argan Oil Hand Cream
Hands down to this organic hand cream that nourishes, moisturizes and protect my hands from dryness. It has a very nice smell and keeps my hands soft all throughout the day.

2. Covergirl Trublend Fixstick
My go-to concealer when I'm in a hurry. I use this after moisturizing my face and this makes my under eye look brighter. Very good in covering my blemishes because of its thick consistency.

3. BodyXpert Underarm Lightening Cream
It's not that I have very dark underarms but I'm not very confident about it so I thought to give this product a try. I'm not seeing any results yet, but I really love the smell of this one.

4. Redlogo F.A.B Nailpolish
This is my favorite color of all time and this nail polish dries very quick. I always bring this with me for a quick fix when my polish chips off.

5. Covergirl Lipstick in Seduce Scarlet
This shade in bright red makes me look decent in days when I don't feel like wearing makeup. A very pigmented red that goes with a fixed eyebrows, a powdered face and you're good to go.

6. Maybelline Super BB Cushion
I use this BB cushion non-stop since I bought it and I think I need to buy a new one. Holy grail product indeed. Highly recommended to those looking for affordable BB cushion.

7. The Body Shop Vit. C Energising Face Mist
This is an instant awakening mist that refreshes and energizes my face. It has vitamin C and smells like orange. It is also good as fixer that holds my makeup in place.

So there you have it beshies, hope you like them like I do.

Finding the right skincare products can be frustrating, I've been a Ponds user for a very long time, from facial wash to toners and creams. It has always been my basic skincare brand since I discovered kaartehan. Trying a new product scares me but somehow a girl should explore...

While I was in Watsons last month, I saw this traveler's kit and I thought this might work for me. Celeteque is a trusted and known brand so I did not hesitate to pick it on the counter. The packaging is small and can serve as a tester for me. This is more economical than buying the full size because I still don't know what to expect from the product.

This kit can last up to 3 weeks when used everyday. Price: P149

It has a cute and simple packaging since it's just trial kit. The size is suitable for people who travels a lot. Each bottle contains 25ml, so it's perfect for storing in your small suitcase/bag.

Facial Wash:
Using this makes me feel like I have a healthy and baby soft skin. Its effect is the same as my good old ponds pearl cleansing gel so this might be a good replacement.

Toner: It was my first time to use an alcohol-free toner meaning, no stingy feeling like the ponds toner that I regularly use. I was really surprised about the cleansing power of this one, I feel like it kinda removed all the dirt in my face because the cotton balls were full of libag (dirt).

Moisturizer:
I never really used moisturizer before but I notice that as I age, my skin tends to become drier. And moisturizing should now be a regular part of my skincare regimen. This moisturizer is odorless. It's like water with a very light and hydrating effect on my skin. It is good as a primer too, and can be used as a makeup base.

Overall, I was surprised by this kit especially given the very affordable price. It really does wonders on my skin especially when I feel like having a break from whitening products. I will definitely buy the full size.

Setting sprays are meant to be the last step in your makeup routine. When lightly applied on top of your completed look, the makeup is supposed to stay in place all day. They claim to keep your powders, concealers, and even eyeshadows from absorbing into your skin or melting off.
I always thought that setting sprays are not necessary in my makeup routine but it does make a huge difference. And this setting spray is the makeup staple that I never knew I needed!

Description:
LA Girl Pro Setting Spray
- Lightweight and non-sticky formula
- Lasting all day
- Natural matte finish

To keep that matte finish of freshly applied makeup, mist evenly with PRO Setting Spray after makeup has been applied.
The lightweight, non-sticky formula sets makeup for lasting all day.
The ultra-fine mist is refreshing and dries quickly setting makeup to promote you a beautiful and youthful look.
This product contains NO paraben and fragrance for sensitive skin.

This comes in a small bottle which I think just right for the price of P350
I like this because it sprays just enough product on my face, a little amount goes a long way. It dries very fast and does not feel sticky. The spray nozzle isn't prone to clogging, and the spray dispenses in a fine mist that settles nicely.

The L.A girl setting spray is my very first facial mist and I'm loving it so far. I highly recommend this to everyone who's hardly making their makeup stay in their faces. But I still have to try other brands though. For the price, it's definitely a good buy.

BB Cushion foundations are very popular nowadays. It took me too long to purchase one because of the price. Luckily, Maybelline came up with the most affordable compared to the other brands though it's still pricey. Essentially, cushions are soaked in BB creams inside a compact paired with an amazing applicator puff. Price: P749
WHAT IT IS?
Maybelline’s 1st high coverage BB Cushion with 60% moisturizing essence! Packed with 8 benefits to give you the coveted radiant poreless perfection look.

BENEFITS
Radiant poreless perfection in just a tap-tap! Enriched with Pure Mineral pigments providing 8 Benefits with just 1 touch:
1. Radiant Perfection
 2. Intense Hydration
3. High Coverage
4. Poreless Finish
5. Even skintone
6. No stickiness
7. No touch-ups
8. SPF 29 PA+++

HOW TO USE / APPLY
STEP 1: Pick up the liquid formula by pressing puff down on cushion sponge
STEP 2: Apply with tapping motion and blend it on face
Tips: - For the au naturel look, blend puff outwards with soft sweeping strokes - To conceal, press finger against cushion and dot on pimple scars or imperfections
There are only 2 shades at the counter and I got the light shade which is too pale for me. I looked like a vampire when used alone, so I have to set it with my Rimmel stay matte to warm it a bit and make it look more natural.
The packaging is sleek, lightweight and not very bulky compared to others. No need to use a brush because the sponge is enough to blend the product.
This cushion is fragrance free which is a plus for me because I think it's milder when less chemicals are added to it.
I like the big mirror that covers my entire face
The texture and consistency is creamy like a liquid foundation. And the coverage is amazing. I noticed that my pores are less visible.

Overall, this cushion is highly recommended if you are looking for an affordable product to try. This can be a dupe for your favorite Korean cushions that's so mahal. Based on my personal experience, I can say that this works super amazing on me. It makes my skin hydrated and it gives me a radiant glow. Just today when I was wearing this BB cushion, my co-worker asked me if I was going to a pictorial because I looked so beautiful daw. Weeehh! Gandang hiyang bes!

HD Trucco is a newly opened salon in Santolan Pasig just along the highway where I pass by everyday. I got intrigued because the place looks very sosyal from the outside. It's not overcrowded and has a cafe beside it. The blogger in me wants to try their service and decided to go in for the sake of this review.

This art illustration is very eye-catching, this is what I saw first when I entered the salon.

The salon has a "sosyal" feel. Its interior is done in black and white. I see minimalism all over the place. The uniform of the staff is black too. I love new salons because its not yet crowded. I prefer quiet "me time" to savor my pampering moments.

I had a haircut and cellophane treatment

And gel polish

My daughter had a haircut too.

I love their wall illustration. Perfect for selfies and glamour shots!

Overall, this salon is a good place to go when your hair and nails needs pampering. Price is fair for their services. They have very accommodating and friendly staff, a nice environment and most of all, a good wifi connection.

I love pampering myself, and have my nails done for at least once a month. It's been a long while since I was looking for a decent salon near my house, with a good ambiance and a good service. True enough, this new place is the answer to my long quest. I will definitely go back!

By the way, they have on-going promo until December so better go visit them now.

I learned about the wonders of this product from beauty bloggers raving about how good it is. In fact, I've heard no bad reviews about it so far. So I searched and purchased my first pan from a makeup seller online and I've been using (abusing) this powder for quite a while now. IG sellers sells this for P380-P400. It is good for the price and totally worth the money.

Rimmel Stay Matte is an oil-absorbing pressed powder that leaves you with a flawless, shine-free complexion. It has a smooth texture, non-powdery matte finish. It has a sheer coverage and doesn't cover skin imperfections so it is best used with a good foundation.

Unfortunately, the packaging of this powder is not very good. It comes in a very basic round pan and clear plastic lid that has no lock. The lid of my first pan cracked after a week of use.

I'm in the shade of creamy natural which is perfect for my neutral skin tone.

When you hit the pan to the bottom, you know that the product really works. I can't live without this so I always have a back up.

I use a paddle brush to apply this powder and it blends nicely with my Loreal true match liquid foundation. But I use this alone on days when I want to look natural.

Overall, Stay Matte performs really well in keeping my skin oil-free. It doesn't cause pimple breakouts. The packaging isn’t the most desirable but for the price, you can’t really complain.

Being a newbie in personal finance is hard. More so, maintaining a wealthy mindset is a struggle. It's a continuous journey of self learning and motivation to keep us in focus. Financial literacy is not just about mindset but a habit of putting our thoughts into action.

Following financial experts and reading their blogs is the easiest way to learn. Learning from people who is "in the know" is a good place to start, and the good news is they are free. Being ignorant is a sin especially in this generation where internet is very accessible.

I'm not related to these blogs or anything guys. This is only based on my personal experience. Here we go: the top 5 blogs that could change your lives....

BLOGS THAT YOU AND I SHOULD READ:

1. Bo Sanchez - http://www.bosanchez.ph - Aside from being a preacher, he also teaches how to handle money in a Godly way. His blog is an inspiration to all people struggling financially. His words are encouraging and easy to understand. I don't need to explain it any further, just head on to his blog and see for yourself. But I think most of you knows him coz he is pretty popular..

2. Chinkee Tan - https://chinkeetan.com - I have already mentioned in my other post how Chinkee made a great impact in my life. He is the one I look up to when it comes to my financial well-being. I read his blog entries everyday because it feeds me daily motivation to continue on this journey. Filipinos can relate because most of his post are written in tagalog. He conducts seminars on how to be financially successful and also an author of bestselling books. Go read his blog and you might as well have a changed mindset.

3. Fitz Villafuerte - http://fitzvillafuerte.com - This was the first blog that came up when I googled for financial products way back when I was still figuring things out. This blog is very informative because you can find almost every answer to your financial questions. And the readers are very engaged as well in replying to the questions. No wonder this blog is quite popular in search engines.

4. Philpad by Fehl Dungo - http://philpad.com - Same with Fitz Villafuerte, every post is informative and answers so many "how to's". This blog is not just about finance but also about life in general. You can find many useful information like "how to open a bank account". This blog makes life so much easier! Pak ganern

5. My Finance MD by Dr. Pinky De Leon - http://www.myfinancemd.com - I love this blog because the author is a Financial Consultant just like me. I learned so many things about financial planning in her blog especially about how important is Life Insurance in our lives. A medical doctor by profession and a Registered Financial Planner as well. She also writes about taxation and estate planing which is a very complicated topic for me. Reading her blog enlightens me in so many ways.

Again, as I said before in my previous blog posts, Investing in ourselves is the best investment ever! Do not limit yourself to learning. Read books and blogs to uplift your financial consciousness. Start now and be financially literate!

SNOE BEAUTY was established in Manila in February 2010 by mom entrepreneur Jen Gerodias-Diaz. The brand was named after her daughter Noe. When Noe was born, everyone would say she was "white as snow". Hence the name SNOE.

I have always been a fan of this brand from the day I discovered it. Their products are the best when it comes to skincare and cosmetics. What I love most about Snoe is their unique packaging, very eye-catching at mukhang imported.

The very first product that I purchased from them is the face sculpting cake. It has been my contour and bronzing powder since then. And I don't plan to use any other contour kit for the time being. Here's why:

SLIM SHADE ME FACE SCULPTING CAKE (with Slimlite) - This lets you create a bone structure instantly, easily and over time - permanently! This powder is specially tinted and formulated to enhance natural bone structure, sculpt and correct your face shape so you can look like you were born with great cheekbones or the perfect nose.

This comes with a box and a sponge.

Back label

I got the WALNUT (darker shade). P799

MAIN INGREDIENTS:
1. Amazonian Clay - minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place. It helps nourish and hydrate dry skin and restore complexion harmony.
2. Coffee - contains caffeine to firm and tighten skin. Dehydrates fatty cells so that water will disappear from the surface of the skin.
3. Ferulic Acid - has been demonstrated to be an antioxidant extender for many of the other anti-oxidants. In particular, the combination of vitamins C and E were shown to double the photo-protective capacity of the skin.
4. Multivitamins - Vitamin C and E and Niacinamide strengthen the skin’s barrier against free-radical damage.
5. Magnolia Bark Hot Water Extract (SlimLite) - Inhibits lipid accumulation and adipocyte (fat cells) differentiation. Blocks Triglyceride (fat tissue) synthesis.

HOW TO USE:
1. For Sculpted Cheeks: Using a contour brush (angled brush works best), blend in from just outside and above the corner of your mouth to your
temples.
2. To Contour the Jawline: Blend directly under your jawbone from the ears to the chin. Be careful not to go up onto the face or very low onto the neck. If you have a double chin do the same just below your chin.
3. To Contour the Nose: Apply onto the sides of your nose, from the top moving down to the nostrils. Blend hard edges.

The walnut swatched on my arm. It has a little shimmer on it and it compliments my neutral skin tone

Overall, this contour cake is the best one that I've tried so far. It is not too overpowering and it really looks natural like I was born with it. I use a paddle brush to apply it and it blends really well with my blush. I use it every single day without fail. I recommend it to those who are just starting to use contour because it really makes my face looks slimmer. Kay bes, wag ka na mag diet. Mag contour ka na lang!

Are you fond of buying things online but scared of the shipping and customs fee? Do you always cry inside because you can't purchase directly from US merchants? Don’t worry because a new shopping service is now available here in PH.

What is Uskoop? Established early this year in the Philippines, Uskoop is an online shopping portal that allows you to purchase items from global shopping sites like Amazon, Gap, Old Navy, Nike, Forever 21, Nordstrom, Tory Burch and so much more! And the good news is: You can pay in Philippine Peso (PHP) without the hassle! A nice place to shop indeed!

This nude pretty heels from Steve Madden that I'm dying to have.

I'm a makeup junkee so this contour and concealer palette should be on the list!

This Nyx Dewy Setting Spray that I cannot find anywhere else

And last but not the least, this unique and sexy cutout body suit that flatters every body type!

There are products sold online that you can buy through Uskoop at cheaper prices. Like this GoPro Hero camera with a huge price difference.

Milani is not available in department store counters here in the Philippines. I never tried buying it on their website because of the added shipping fee. I've been hearing rave and good reviews about this brand for so long from beauty bloggers and YouTubers around the world especially the Milani Luminoso Baked Blush. Its popularity got into me and it is being compared to Nars Orgasm so it must be really good.

After a long search, I finally got my hands on the blush from an instagram seller. I got it for P450, not bad for the price because it's really pretty.
Milani Luminoso (CTO)
Product Description:
Milani Luminoso is a slightly peach blush with a little touch of pink. Richly pigmented and highly buildable, the beautiful matte and shimmery shades of Baked Blush are the perfect cheeky pop of color for every skin tone. Sunbaked on Italian terracotta tiles, the warm finish adds a radiance that is the very essence of beauty. Shape, contour and highlight your best features.

The packaging is made of plastic but who cares when you get to see this very pretty color. The blush is very pigmented and you only need a little swipe to get that pinkish peachy cheeks. It has many fall outs though so you need to be careful when swiping off your brush or else sayang.

It comes with a compact mirror and a brush underneath. Perfect for your day out when you don't want to carry too many abubot in your bag.

Back photo

Application:
Glide brush through color and lightly tap off excess powder. Lightly apply to cheeks, forehead, chin and/or nose and blend well for a soft glow.

Ingredients:
Talc, Mica, Dimethicone, Isopropyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 20, Acrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Isohexadecane, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbitan Stearate, Lauroyl Lysine, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polysorbate 80, Hexylene Glycol, Tin Oxide, Nylon-12, Sorbitan Oleate, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica. +/- May Contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Red 6 Lake (CI 15850), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Yellow 6 Lake (CI 15985), Ultramarines (CI 77007)
Luminoso swatched on my lower arm.

Overall, I would say that this is a very must-have in every girls makeup kit. True to its good reviews, Milani Luminoso is such a holy grail and worth your money. It is best applied with an angled brush and works best when you have a contour or bronzer on. It doesn't need a highlighter on top because it's already shimmery. It lasts for only 4 hours on my skin so I have to reapply it when needed. This blush compliments every skin tone from dark to pale. I will definitely buy other shades pag naka luwag-luwag! So don't hesitate girls, go buy it!

Till next post!
